A Consummate Community Builder

Growing up the middle of five children in the great state of Utah, Allie learned - from a very young age - how to find her way in a group. She instinctively understands the dynamics of a group, what people need, and how she can be helpful. Helpfulness became her brand as a child, and it has stuck with her to this day. Whether she is standing out or fitting in, Allie knows what is ‘right’ at any given moment.

Allie began her career as a young 20-something working for the sorority of which she was a member. She travelled the country, lived out of a suitcase, and helped college-aged women start, create, manage, and run a sorority. In this role, she helped people navigate the political system at their college, stay safe while engaging in Greek life, and find the balance of being responsible and really, really fun. Amidst school shootings and campus violence, Allie became a mentor and a guide, helping students find their way in a trauma-induced state. Yet again, she relied on her brand of helpfulness to grow her impact.

The life of a travelling nomad gets old, and so Allie settled herself in Boston and used her contacts at Universities around the country to become a University Recruiter for athenahealth, one of the preeminent companies in the Boston-metro area. At athenahealth, she grew her career rapidly, moving upwards in the world of recruiting, and into the role of New Employee Experience manager. She designed and led the new employee onboarding and became the first - and friendliest - face that new employees would see. She helped employees navigate their first days and weeks at the company, and - in true Allie fashion - stayed in touch with most of them, never forgetting a face or a name, and often helped them make new connections and take on new opportunities.

When she left athenahealth, it was to design, lead, and grow the onboarding program at another fast-growth start-up, Drift. Here she not only led onboarding, but took on a myriad of other roles and responsibilities within the Learning and Development department. She helped lead learning sessions, trained people on the Drift culture and product, and liaised with Marketing and HR to ensure that employees remained connected to the company’s purpose. She became an evangelical advocate for the brand, and the internal face of Drift for new employees.

When she started at Thrive Global as the Director of L&D, she not only created and led their onboarding, but implemented relevant and fresh ways of learning new skills and behaviors. She worked closely with department heads to identify the capabilities needed for success, and then carefully crafted opportunities for employees to grow those capabilities, and therefore increase their impact to the company. In everything she does, she keeps the customer top of mind, and the business results at her fingertips.
